Last weekend was one of those times… I attended a contest and I wanted to win… and since I found about it on a short notice and I had only 10 days to prepare myself and get ripped, I did something extreme 🙂
I followed a protocol used by top UFC fighters like Georges St. Pierre to rapidly lose 20-30 pounds for their “weigh-ins.”
Dropping so much weight so fast is all about manipulating your water and sodium levels.
Saturday – 2 gallons
Sunday – 2 gallons
Monday – 1 gallon
Tuesday – 1 gallon
Wednesday – .5 gallons
Thursday – 0.25 gallons
Friday – 0.25 gallons
Saturday, the day of the contest – nothing.
As you can see, the amount of water starts high with two gallons and decreases with each day … This is to ensure the body gets into “flushing mode.”
By drinking lots of water early on, my body would down-regulate aldosterone, a hormone that acts to conserve sodium and secrete potassium.
And when I suddenly reduced the amount of water I was drinking in the middle and end of the week, my body would still be in the flushing mode, meaning I’ll hit the bathroom to pee a lot even though I was hardly drinking any water.
What happens when you excrete more fluid than you take in? Bingo! Rapid weight loss.
I only had protein and veggies, no sugar, no fruits, no salt and I trained twice a day 🙂
The results: I lost 16 pounds in 5 days and I won the 2nd place 🙂
However, I do not recommend this for anyone, as these were 10 horrible days for me….
But, if you have a lot of weight to lose, there is a safe and easy way to do it 🙂
